5 Star Rating Absolutely fabulous Mediterranean food. The bartenders are great and fun. The fried halloumi was beyond delicious. Soft yet coated in the crunchy layer. The lamb kebab was cooked perfectly at medium rare.

4 Star Rating I've been wanting to try Shuka for a while, and I finally got the chance! We decided to go all in with the Shuka Feast, and it was absolutely worth it--delicious and plentiful. Here are some highlights: The fried halloumi, a semi-sweet fried cheese, was incredible--an instant favorite. Among the dips, the labne with tangerine and honey and the squash moutabel stood out as top-notch. The turmeric rice was a standout too, packed with flavor from cranberries and fried onions--I couldn't get enough of it! The Niman Ranch sirloin steak, while slightly tough and chewy, delivered fantastic flavor, and the grilled lamb was another solid choice. The za'atar fries were tasty, and we also tried the spit-roasted chicken shawarma. While the chicken was juicy, it didn't quite win me over and could've been skipped. Service was excellent--attentive and welcoming. Overall, the food was really good, and I'd definitely return. Highly recommend! :)

5 Star Rating My cousins own shuka but I promise I’m not being biased! The atmosphere and vibes couldn’t have been better. I love sitting in the window during beautiful weather because they open it up and it’s indoor/outdoor dining. The Turkish coffee… TO DIE FOR. I’m not a big coffee drinker but this coffee was so delicious it didn’t even need milk. It had the perfect cinnamon taste I drank it black. We got the hummus which was obviously delicious. The shwarma is mouthwatering. The wait staff was incredible. Told them I have a dairy allergy and she actually walked through the entire menu with me circling the things I could eat. She never once made it feel like a burden I couldn’t eat dairy. Overall amazing experience and If you are ever in the area check them out!!

5 Star Rating Been here many times and food is always so delicious! Highly recommend. Spacious restaurant and airy, outdoor seating for spring. Food: Consistently delicious. This time we got two dips and the Fattoush Salad- good portions sizes and filling. Service: Usually a bit slow, but not an issue since usually we come here to hang out. I wouldn’t go here if you’re trying to get in and out though- their staff seem to be slim for all the tables they need to wait on. Atmosphere: Excellent. Good seating options for small groups or big groups. Indoor and outdoor options available too. This place always gets packed though so go during off times or put in a reservation.

5 Star Rating A neighborhood vibe with fantastic service and great food. Carmellini has put together a menu with something for everyone even if you are looking for a suprise. Great bar scene, perfect for people watching and reliably the place we go to with our grown children or out of town guests. Chicken was delicious, pasta was fantastic. Desserts were new to us and the chocolate pudding (it might be something else but its pudding at its best) and the real winner was the apple dessert. Go figure.

5 Star Rating Wow! I love this place. The atmosphere was charming, the energy was electric, and the staff was warm and welcoming. The food was out of this world. We got the duck meatloaf, and some of the best fried chicken. I absolutely loved the elevated, modern twist. They took on classic food. To top it all off, the dirty martini was one of the best I’ve ever had.

4 Star Rating We came to the Dutch last night and had a tasty, enjoyable dinner. It was lovely evening out, so we chose to dine outside. It’s on the sidewalk with a lot of foot traffic, which was fine except for the occasional smell of smoke. Also, a bug flew into my rosé, but the server kindly replaced it and gave me a coaster to cover it. For food, we ordered the following for 2 to share: - The Prince Platter - Chinatown Calamari - Lemon Roasted Cod - Potato Purée The Prince Platter was nicely presented with oysters (4 kinds x3 each), jumbo shrimp (4 pieces) and lobster salad. I especially like the jumbo shrimp, which were fresh and very plump. The Chinatown Calamari was more like a calamari salad, with cucumbers, carrots and bean sprouts. The calamari was lightly breaded and perfectly fried, which I loved. We didn’t try the famous fried chicken, but will have to next time. The Lemon Roasted Cod was a nice, colorful dish and the Potato Puree is a must try for any creamy mashed potato lovers. Our server was attentive and it was a great meal overall. It looked cozy inside, too, especially for winter months or when it’s too hot to dine outside.

5 Star Rating I'm a regular at The Dutch, and it continues to impress me with its delicious food, attentive service, and welcoming ambiance. For a recent birthday brunch, I mentioned the celebration in my reservation, and at the end of our meal, our server surprised us by bringing over a dessert with a sparkly candle to wish her a happy birthday. Thoughtful touches like this are why I keep coming back to this neighborhood gem.

5 Star Rating Aria Wine Bar is one of our all-time favorite spots in NYC — we’ve been loyal customers for over 12 years and it never disappoints! The food is always delicious, truly like being back in Italy 🇮🇹 The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, and the service is consistently amazing — friendly, fast, and full of charm. The only (tiny!) downside this time: no mayonnaise for the calamari fritti. I’m not a fan of dipping them in warm tomato sauce. But honestly, everything else was perfect as always. Aria remains a must-visit in the West Village. Thank you for all these wonderful memories over the years! 🥂🍝💛

Very nice atmosphere - but it is very loud. The service was very good as well. If you need an Italian restaurant in the Village - Aria is a great choice. (We went again recently - and again everything was great. It was much less busy and super pleasant.)

5 Star Rating Fresh, well executed dishes in a stylish West Village setting We stumbled upon Market Table for dinner, drawn in by its modern, minimalistic decor. The ambiance is inviting and understated, perfect for a relaxed evening out. The food was fresh and beautifully presented, with solid flavors, though nothing particularly unique or standout overall. The beet tart like starter was the highlight of the meal and is definitely worth trying if you’re a fan of beets. Service was quick and efficient, and while prices are on the higher side, it’s to be expected in the West Village. A good spot for a clean, seasonal meal in a stylish setting.

4 Star Rating This was our second visit to this restaurant, returning after a year with high expectations. We had been told that the menu had undergone changes, but in reality, it remained virtually identical to our previous visit. Not necessarily a bad thing—unless you were hoping for something new. We started with the Brooklyn Burrata and the carpaccio. Both appetizers were outstanding: incredibly fresh, beautifully plated, and packed with flavor. The seasoning was spot-on, and the accompanying sauces added a creative and well-executed twist. It was a strong start that set the bar high. For our main courses, we ordered the crispy chicken and the roasted halibut. The chicken dish was overall a hit—crispy skin, tender and juicy meat—but it fell short on seasoning. A touch more salt would have elevated it from good to exceptional. The halibut came with an artful presentation, nestled among vibrant peas, but unfortunately, the flavor didn’t match the visuals. It was a bit bland and underwhelming despite its polished appearance. We also ordered a bottle of Ca’ Furlan Prosecco, which was fine—light and refreshing—but after a quick lookup, we discovered it retails for about $10. Being charged $56 for it left a bit of a sour taste. A 2–3x markup is standard in restaurants, but a 5x increase feels excessive and borderline exploitative. Service, on the other hand, was excellent. Attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the night. All in all, a mixed experience: high marks for presentation and appetizers, but the mains and drink pricing could use some fine-tuning. Would we return? Possibly—but we’d go in with managed expectations and maybe skip the wine list.

2 Star Rating A former shell of its pre Covid glory. Only IPA’s on draft and Budweiser as the only bottle/can option. Date ordered white wine and the one bottle they had was warm. The bartender said it was on the house which was nice but he knew that it was a ramshackle operation. A shame because it used to be my favorite neighborhood bar. Not sure what the deal is but hope it passes on to new owners soon.

4 Star Rating My friend and I came across this place on a Sunday evening. The hostess seated us right away. We ordered the Birria empanadas for starters - so good! For our entrees, I ordered the market plate: salmon with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, and my friend ordered the market plate: salmon teriyaki with Brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. We weren’t too pleased with the salmon (tasted a little too fishy for our liking and was very bland); however, our veggies were pretty good. I don’t think I’d order the salmon again - I’d try another type of protein. Overall, this place was good. The staff were very attentive and quick, which we appreciated. I’d give this place another shot and order a different dish.

Service was spot on and attentive. Consensus across the table was that the food was excellent with decently sized portions. Buffalo chicken, and the cheeseburger, were standouts though. Only thing I would say is that it was pretty noisy on our visit. So much so we had to shout to have any conversations. I'm sure for lots of people that's not an issue :)

5 Star Rating One hundred years ago, long before craft beer taps and truffle fries, the building at 222 West Houston Street served a grittier, more functional purpose—it was a garage and stable, a vital cog in New York City’s infrastructure at a time when horsepower still referred to actual horses. Built in the early 1900s, the space was designed for practicality: thick brick walls, cavernous ceilings supported by hulking wooden beams, and wide-open floors that could accommodate wagons, carts, and eventually, those newfangled automobiles. You can almost still hear the clatter of hooves and the hiss of steam if you listen hard enough beneath the ambient indie rock and the clink of pint glasses. Today, that same space has been reborn as Houston Hall—a sprawling, high-ceilinged beer hall that still wears its industrial history with pride. The exposed beams and raw brick aren’t decorative; they’re authentic remnants of a New York built on muscle and grit. It’s a transformation Sir Patrick Stewart might call “a most noble repurposing”—and I’d call “a damn smart use of square footage in this part of the Village.” This place really resonates with me. It has that vibe that is rustic but not rough, spacious but still intimate when the crowd hits its rhythm. The beer selection, brewed by Greenpoint Beer Works, leans into approachable craft styles rather than obscure brewing one-upmanship. Think hazy IPAs, crisp lagers, and a rotating seasonal brew that gives the regulars something to look forward to. Food? Solid bar fare with a few flourishes. The truffle grilled cheese gets mentions, as does the soft pretzel with beer cheese. No one's mistaking this for a fine dining establishment, but for a beer hall built in the bones of a turn-of-the-century garage, the kitchen holds its own. Service is brisk and friendly—occasional chaos, but that’s par for the course when you’re dealing with large tables with non-homogeneous diners and pitchers of pale ale. The acoustics, courtesy of that soaring ceiling, can turn raucous quickly, so if you're looking for a quiet conversation, go early or aim for a weekday. Or definitely a weekday later in the evening, it seems to quiet down pretty quickly. In sum: Houston Hall is a celebration of old bones and new brews. A place where the past hasn’t been erased—it’s been repurposed, revitalized, and handed a flight of beer. One could raise a glass and say, in both reverence and delight: make it malty.

3 Star Rating Although the service was good, I was quite disappointed by the food at Houston Hall. We weren't really hungry so we ordered the mushroom pizza to share. The pizza is sub-par and a big mistake knowing that Song 'E Napule is a few blocks east. The beer selection is very generic and the menu didn't specify where the beers come from so I assume they're local beer. Although they have Maß at the hall, I couldn't find any German beer on the menu. We were there on Wednesday after work and did not know that a flood of people from the running meetup usually go there after their run. I'd avoid this place for these reasons.

5 Star Rating I recently visited Houston Hall for happy hour, and it was a fantastic experience! The manager Ivan is fantastic - he is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is amazing, with a massive beer hall and brew pub vibe located in New York City's historic West Village. I ordered my go-to classic, a Moscow Mule, which was perfectly crafted. The highlight of my visit, though, was the Big Plate Nachos. They came loaded with three-bean chili, grilled mixed veggies, a secret spice combo, and melted Jack & cheddar. The tortillas were fried in-house, making the nachos super delicious. Although the vegan chili was super yummy, I opted for meat on mine, and it did not disappoint. Houston Hall's happy hour runs from Tuesday to Friday, 4 pm to 8 pm, and all day Sunday. With an exclusive selection of craft beers, specialty cocktails, and homemade tavern fare, it's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some great food and drinks. Highly recommend!

2 Star Rating Overpriced inconsistent food with a few standout dishes, good service, unbearably loud indoor space with terrible acoustics. I came here with a few friends and we ordered a variety of apps and sides to share, multiple rounds of drinks, and entrees. Of the food, the sweet potatoes, fried artichokes, and burrata were exceptional. Everything else was pretty bad. My steak, which I ordered rare, was tough and cooked medium well so it was barely edible. My pot of chocolate was very gritty. My friends enjoyed the scallops and gnocchi but I didn't enjoy my entree or dessert at all. Great attentive service. The worst part was how insanely loud the place is with no dampening so it was like being in a noise conversation tunnel all night. Probably the outside seating is better. Overall, the food and drinks are a bit overpriced for the iffy quality. We spent over $500 for 4 people.

5 Star Rating Cozy spot with a nice courtyard. The Savory Tart and Linguine were OK. The ceviche and duck were great. The chocolate bread pudding was amazing.

4 Star Rating Charming Hideaway in the West Village – Perfect for Lunch or an Intimate Evening COZY LUNCH/BRUNCH SPOT Hudson Clearwater is a cozy little gem tucked away in a quiet corner of the West Village. I’ve been here a few times for lunch, and it’s a lovely spot for a business meeting or a casual catch-up with a friend. The menu is limited but well-curated, with quality ingredients and thoughtful dishes that never disappoint. THE SPACE The space itself is small and intimate, with cozy tables and a warm, welcoming vibe. One of the best features is the adorable outdoor patio—a hidden little oasis that feels worlds away from the bustle of Manhattan. ROMANTIC EVENING While I haven’t had the chance to dine here in the evening, I imagine it would be magical. The string lights and quiet neighborhood would create a perfect, romantic atmosphere—ideal for date night or a special occasion. If you’re looking for a low-key, charming spot in the city with great ambiance and a reliable menu, Hudson Clearwater is a great choice.

5 Star Rating We had a great dining experience at Hudson Clearwater on our trip to NYC. The service and food were both amazing, and the restaurant was in a great location. I had a latte and a fried egg and cheese sandwich, and very much enjoyed every bit. We were very happy with our brunch experience, and would recommend a visit to anyone in the area!

5 Star Rating Staff was very friendly and service was quick! My daughter loved her lasagna and the pizza was great, crust was perfect. Was cash only when we went, not sure if that is standard but was not listed on the menu.

4 Star Rating We love their pizzas and pastas. One of the best Neapolitan pizzas in NYC. We love the large capricciosa pizza for the whole family while we also get the tagliatelle-alla-bolognese for our two kids. The ingredients are super fresh and they know what they are doing. We usually take home the polpette de carne (meatballs) for a quick meal at home when we get hungry. Ask for extra sauce which goes great with some baguette.

5 Star Rating A bit on the expensive side, but absolutely worth it. San Danielle was a stellar option, good quality food. Big pizza, but the 3 of us absolutely devoured as it was brilliant. Service was top quality as well.
