Decent value for money for the food in a tourist trap location, but it's not the best Italian, it's quite American Italian in style if anything. Service was a bit mechanical and very slow at points of the meal. Dessert wasn't offered, neither were further drinks. Asked to come to the cash desk to pay, to a portable card machine, not sure what was going on. Lacks atmosphere in the restaurant.

I am surprised why the rating of this restaurant is not 5 ! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is amazing !!! We had pizza and pasta with shrimps and both were great.
Totally recommend

Taste of Italy. Absolutely delicious food—very satisfying! The portions are generous,(like home) and every dish is packed with flavour. The staff are lovely and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommended!

Really amazing italian place. The food is delicious, the crew friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere feels like home.
Thank you for the sweet birthday gift, you made our evening!

It is a very cute little Italian restaurant and very busy. We were lucky to get a table on a Saturday evening, but I would recommend that you book a table in advance. The lighting is dimmed and the mood is cozy.
We had the lasagne and pasta with Italian sausage and eggplant. Both were not up to the Italian standard we’ve experienced before, therefore only 3 stars.
I wish I had tried the Parmesan truffle pasta, as it is made exactly like it should be by the table. With the big Parmesan cheese wheel and grated truffle.
All in all is was ok, but nothing more.

10/10 would recommend!
Hands down the best pizza i have had in Germany, and the pasta was even better! The dough was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the creaminess of the pasta was just superb.
The service is exquisite with a very hospitable and friendly workers!

Known for their 270 degree view of Berlin. Wasn’t very clear how you get up & once we were in the lift, it was pretty scary lol. The view was nice but didn’t blow my mind. Service was good but defo had the “rich people” vibes.
Bonus that there’s views & the food is actually nice! The potato bread was incredible!

My husband invited me for our anniversary celebration, the food was delicious and the service very kind. They decorated our table with a little heart and a congratulations card. I enjoyed the view of Berlin and our dinner

Went there for Valentine’s Day dinner, payed 80€ per person and got dry bread, cold food, late serve and most of it was not tasty. Drinks were extremely expensive. The view was very nice and the place looks fancy though.

dined here while solo travelling a couple months ago. the staff were so friendly and welcoming despite me being by myself. the service was so quick even with having a larger group in at the same time. the food was really well made - i had a chicken dish and some mash. i’ve never had mash like it! definitely worth a try. i didn’t feel as welcomed from the staff at the entrance, maybe it’s a language difference but they spent more time talking to each other and laughing over my shoulder than myself while taking my jacket which made me feel a little awkward.

It is a well trodden trope that restaurants with great views are complacent with their food, wowing diners with what is out the window, rather than what is on the plate. Solar isn’t one of those places.
When we arrived, the security checked our booking, and sent us on our way up the elevator to the restaurant with a view.
It is a cool space, and Berlin unfolds out of the large windows. We got there early, so saw the sunset, and watched the city light up as the evening progressed.
Our evening started simply with a few drinks, the house Winzersekt Solar Rosé - was easy, crisp and light. I got a “Glorious Bastard” cocktail that was fun to order and drink.
The food menu here is all about sharing. For starters we began with delicate tartlets and the croquettes. We paired these with a Riesling from Stahl, which was fresh and precise. The Warsteiner beer I also enjoyed.
For mains, the Cordon Bleu, the Spanferkel (suckling pig) was tender and the crackling was satisfying. The half lobster was simply done and we enjoyed it.
Each main was well portioned, well seasoned and plated with enough style, without being over thought.
You have to get sides to complete the experience, and we went with the: buttery mashed potatoes, honeyed baby carrots, and the cauliflower. Each paired well with the mains and we left nothing for the kitchen to clear off the plates.
We were sat next to a couple who got the Wagyu, and I asked them if they thought it was worth the cost, they said it was and was the best steak they’d ever had, they and all those around us were enjoying their experiences and sent their plates back empty and left happy.
There were couples on dates, groups celebrating birthdays, and families catching up. People were coming here to celebrate, sharing a meal with people they love, and wanting a special night out in a special location.
When I first arrived I was worried it was going to be mediocre and pretentious - but they avoid this well, and have made Solar into something delightful. The views will impress you, the food will comfort you, and the drinks and wine list are well considered.
As evening progressed, we grabbed a last few photos of the city.
On the elevator ride we left content, riding the elevator down to the wander back to the hotel glad we had found Solar, and made some memories there.

Went here with a friend to have lunch during work and I tried a dish I have never before- Mango and Ananas curry and it was soo good! I loved the flavours and the balance of spices. The serving was of right quantity and definitely worth the price. The service is quick considering it was packed during the lunch hour and the staff is very friendly. Card payment above €10.

Decent food, however 1 vegan option as main dish (pho as pictured) seems unnecessarily limited. With a little twist they could reach a broader audience. The starters came before the drinks. Drinks with mains. Friendly, fast.

This place is nice and really peaceful and quiet. The waiters are welcoming and the food came quickly. It's not too heavy and i would say that the portions are the perfect size. The food is really interesting, i would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially if you like quiet places and if you'd try different food. I would recommend the rice noodle dishes, rather than soups, that i didn't like that much. My only complain is that the place is a little colder, but not that bad. Also, the prices are good. Overall, very chill and peaceful place with not too heavy food.

Very tasty and cheap lunch menu. I had M5. Beef was tender and flavorful. I would recommend if you are nearby. Basically self-service. You order and pay at the front with cash. When the food is ready, you will need to go get it. Lunch time is very packed. I don’t think they have enough people to work there. I would wash their dishes because the food was so tasty.

Delicious Indonesian dishes at very fair prices, with good vegetarian options. Lunch dishes are 6€. Staff is very friendly despite being busy.
Best to go after typical eating hours as it gets very busy. It’s especially nice in summer when you can eat outside, the indoor seating is very limited so be prepared to wait if you’re eating inside.
Emilie - 2 years ago
Love this wee eatery! I am a fan of Indonesian food and while there is room this place has a very decent quality and a price you cannot argue with. I have been a couple of times and have not been disappointed- also not by the effort to being seated even if it appears completely booked!
The Food is tasty, fresh and the owners are delightfully friendly and welcome. I especially love sitting outside in the summer or using the wee wooden shack when it gets more chilly... try the rendang, the mixed plates and gado gado to get a good introduction!

Best value for money!
Authentic Indonesian curries, low wait time, and at a lunch price of 6€ per meal between 12:00-15:00.
Don’t expect the greatest food ever here, but if you want a cheap Indonesian meal with authentic flavours, this place is perfect.
Will be coming here often to support this restaurant.
Cash preferred but do accept card payment.

A good spot for a coffee break and some delicious treats. Retro-chic look, fun decor, a bit pricey. I had an acceptable cuppuccino and a delicious pistachio croissant. They only accept cash. Which seems inadequate these days... otherwise I would have given it a 5.
Marco Monteiro - 8 months ago
It’s a great spot to meet friends or settle in for a slow coffee moment.
The coffee is really good – well-balanced, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. You can tell they take their beans and brewing seriously. Many guests mention the quality of the drinks, and I can absolutely agree.
That said, the space can get quite loud when it’s busy. The atmosphere is vibrant, but the noise level sometimes makes conversations a bit difficult. Adding acoustic panels or some subtle sound-absorbing elements could really elevate the experience and make it more comfortable during peak hours.
The service team works hard and keeps things moving, though they sometimes appear slightly stressed – which is understandable given how popular the café is. A bit more breathing space for the staff would probably make the whole experience even smoother, both for them and for guests.
Overall, a very nice café with excellent coffee and a welcoming vibe. With a small improvement in acoustics, it could become an even stronger favorite in Berlin.
The Reviewer - 2 months ago
Quite expensive and average quality. It's understandable for its location but the combo mediocre food and high prices (and only in cash) makes it hard to recommend. We got an Italian focaccia and a bagel and spent around 19 euro. The focaccia was just edible, nothing special.
We sat inside and our table wasn't cleaned and all the seats were covered in leftovers from the previous customers. Nobody cared to check or come and clean.

Awesome coffee place with a very friendly staff. The coffee is tasty and the toasts as well. We were a large group of nine people and we were always able to book a table in the morning for our breakfast. Great team!

Went here recently with some friends and family and had such a great evening. The vibe is super relaxed and welcoming, and it’s the kind of place where you can take your time, enjoy good conversation, and just feel at home.
This time we had some great steaks, but I’ve been here before and tried the schnitzel with potato salad🤤and honestly, it really stuck with me. You can tell the kitchen puts real care into what they serve and the waiters were super friendly .
Also, a little bonus: after dinner we went upstairs to MoeGreene, the bar just above the restaurant, and it’s such a cool spot. Great drinks, cozy lighting, good music🤩definitely the kind of place you want to end your night at

Really good food and huge portions.
We had a wiener schnitzel that came with potato salad and fresh salad and we also had a pork knuckle with sauerkraut - both were real home food vibe and tasted really good.
Nice and friendly staff- recommend!
Spacious room. Music - a good christmas playlist as we visited in december, perfect volume too. Maybe a bit weird decor, but who cares if food is good, right?

The food is scrumptious in taste, but I talked a healthy(fatty)chef ( an indian person),I suprised from his skill , his nature when I free , I want to enjoy the meal from this restaurant and environment. All the staff is very hard working.
Visit this restaurant and meet the healthy chef
Thank you

Boxing Day in Berlin meant evening eating options were limited. This place was open so tired and hungry in we went.
As others have said in reviews, it's aimed at tourists. The food is good, not exceptional. Service very good though and serving staff very friendly.

The plates here were generous and genuinely delicious, from the loaded avocado toast to the warm, flaky pastries. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, especially the salad and omelette with all the little sides. A relaxed, easy place to settle in for a hearty breakfast or brunch.

Loved this cafe on our trip to Berlin. Loved the cozy interior and there were lots of outdoor seating as well, definitely felt like a local gem. We got cappuccinos and the Menemen, which were both excellent!
The service from staff was above and beyond. We did not realize it was cash only, however she insisted on preparing our order, telling us we can pay later. We ran to an atm and came back. After our meal as we were chatting about how good the homemade granola yogurt bowl looks, she emerged from the kitchen with little sample bowls for us both!
Do not miss this spot! One my highlights in Berlin. Just make sure to bring some cash!

Breakfast with good vibes! Friendly staff, gorgeous avocado sandwich and the mixed breakfast with scrambled eggs, bread, hummus etc was so tasty and rich (and too much to finish). An extra plus for the vibey music. A perfect start of the day just next to Berlin Story Bunker. Don't miss when in Berlin!

I loved this cafe. The food was fantastic and the service was fantastic. The lady who served me is a local and is super friendly and gave me excellent recommendations. The first day I had avocado on toast with scrambled egg and cheddar cheese. It was divine.
The food was so good the first time I went back the next day. I had a Turkish dish called Menemen. It's a little bit like a Shakshuka. It was delicious too. The coffees and fresh juices were really good.

I went to this café last time I was in Berlin with my father and sister, we were a little bit undecided as everything seemed delicious.
They helped us quickly to make our choice and we were delighted.
The presentation of the dishes was very appetizing. The staff was kind and welcoming from the beginning to the end.
It's a place not to miss if you want a great breakfast in Berlin. Thanks a lot for the positive atmosphere :)

The Gibson, Berlin
There are bars you visit, and then there are temples you experience. The Gibson belongs to the second kind. It doesn’t serve drinks, it performs them.
At the heart of this electric sanctuary stand two alchemists: Merion, the barman with the calm precision of a surgeon and the imagination of a poet; and Andrew, the host whose presence feels like the opening note of a jazz record, warm, confident, and slightly unpredictable.
Here, every cocktail is a conversation. You don’t order, you are read. Your mood, your rhythm, your hesitation. And then, Merion composes. The glass lands softly in front of you, like an answer to a question you hadn’t dared to articulate.
The lighting is low but alive, the air laced with wood smoke and citrus oil. It’s Berlin as it should be: elegant without posture, daring without noise. A place where Miles Davis could have collided with David Bowie, and both would’ve ordered another round.
What sets The Gibson apart is its devotion to understanding. This is not hospitality, it’s empathy distilled. They don’t try to impress you, they try to get you. And when they do, satisfaction feels less like pleasure and more like recognition.
Every ingredient is impeccable, sourced like treasure, treated like gospel. You wake up the next morning without a trace of hangover, only the lingering taste of perfection and the faint memory of a night that understood you better than most people ever will.
The Gibson isn’t a bar. It’s a mirror.
And if you’re lucky enough to look into it, it will show you what you actually crave.

Lovely place with a 30’s flare, innovative&exciting cocktail menu. But the best part was the amazing staff. Our service angel/elf/fairy godmother was what made the night so special. Can not recommend enough.

Noteworthy cocktails and spot on food (snacky but you can easily make it a meal). Service was exactly what it should be and the atmosphere was loosely a 20s themed speakeasy. They also had fun with everything while keeping a nice balance between casual and professionalism.

The restaurant was under renovation for quite a while. Evidently the menus was slightly changed but still is very much influenced by the old very good dishes and ideas. I personally liked the fresh and surprising proposition in the menus. In some dishes on the other hand it was a bit “verschlimmbessert”. The chocolate with olive oil or the eggplant brûlée for example. Please go back to your perfect original version! We beg you!
The wine was absolutely fantastic and the recommendation matched the food 100%! Great! Staff was absolutely nice, something that’s hard to find in Berlin…
Give them a bit to organize and adjust the kitchen after a long closing time and it surely will regain the status of my girlfriend’s “favorite” Berlin restaurant. I’ll definitely come back and hopefully will be able to be seated at the bar! Makes it a complete different experience….
Angelus Klein - 3 months ago
The place itself is beautiful and the chance of watching the friendly chefs while sitting in front of the kitchen was very cool. The food was tasty (which I consider the bare minimum for that price range) but a little difficult to find options being a pregnant vegetarian (I do eat fish though but most fish options were raw.)
We felt a bit lost facing the menu which contained quite a few ingredients and dishes that were new to us and we would have appreciated service that guides through the menu instead of being in a position of asking many questions. Other restaurants do that MUCH better.
Our drinks came long after the 1st and 2nd course and after we reminded that we still wait for it. The Mocktail was great, the Cocktail a bit bland but the amazing white wine later made up for it.
Also, for a restaurant in Germany it would have been nice to have at least one person from the service staff that speaks German.
An absolute No-Go for me was unfortunately the fact that a dish that we ordered explicitly vegetarian, came containing goulash and I had to find out while eating it and it was very disgusting being a Veggie. The staff apologized though several times and offered some free treats to make up for it which I appreciate and see the effort. Thank you for a pleasant evening!

I've had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday with my close family very recently and had a great experience.
The staff was very accommodating to my quirks and requests to move around the restaurant to find the perfect table for us.
The food is great and the drinks are tasty and fun.
Service could be a bit improved but I think it's due to reopening of the restaurant and training of the staff, however - everyone were very kind and helpful, just seemed like they were a bit full (the restaurant was in full capacity) - which could potentially explain it. No worries though! it was great whatsoever. I highly recommend.

Berta guarantees an outstanding experience. The restaurant exudes a family-like atmosphere that perfectly blends with professionalism, creating an excellent mix. The dishes served were fantastic and reminded me of my trip to Israel. They were creatively crafted, aesthetically presented, and generously sized. Not every dish was perfect, but each one offered a unique experience for the palate. I recommend trying several dishes to fully appreciate the chefs' capabilities.
The service is another incredibly positive aspect. Despite the busy atmosphere, I felt completely taken care of, including complimentary dishes we received to further explore the menu while waiting. As we were the last customers, we ended up closing the restaurant much later than the official hours. No one minded, and on top of that, at our request, we were served espresso even though the kitchen and bar were already closed.
I was also impressed by the decor. Traditional and family elements were brilliantly combined with modern, raw concrete and large glass windows. The open kitchen was adorned with traditional dishes, adding to the atmosphere—very charming! During my next visit to Berlin, I will definitely come back!

A real treat. We had a Sunday brunch here. A very interesting and pleasant design with very well thought through acoustics - didn't feel noisy at all even with many people and music. A very friendly service with a nice treat of hot wine. The dishes were all very high quality and delicious. The cocktails were amazing. It was child friendly too. Really curious to come back for dinner.
