Really nice relaxed vibe on Sunday night- great Augustiner beer in draft & the food is delicious. V quick friendly service - made to feel very welcome. Would be lovely in the summer with the beer garden & about 10 minutes walk from the main station

I was looking for genuine German food around my hotel & was pointed to this place by the tourist office at the main train station.
It was right be the River Spree & consist of not just a restaurant but also a large biergarten, I was not expecting much but the din from the place before I reached it told me that I would not be disappointed. It was rather crowded but the friendly staff was able to offered me a seat high table.
I ordered a beer, a vegetable soup & the pork knuckle. The beer came quickly, the soup a little while later & not outstanding.
The pork knuckle came after quite a while (they already pre-warned me) & it was served with some kind of mashed potato & sauerkraut & they worked wonderfully together.
Benjamin, the owner, roamed around entertaining the guest & spoke to me as well telling me that they also have a basement area which they would used as restaurant space in the winter.

Absolutely amazing food and service. The star of the whole experience is the Fraulein at the front desk. See attached photo. Her service is impeccable. The food is equally amazing. The pork knuckle is to die for. The roast pork in beer sauce is equally fantastic. Well worth the two visits we made here

Food was good, had the veal schnitzel with potatoes, and a liter of the Oktoberfest. Appetizers for the table were pretzel & meatball. A friend had the sausage and wasn’t what was expected. I guess being from the states we related it to being breakfast sausage. Waiter seemed to be too busy to be attentive to our table.

Can’t recommend it enough. I came for some currywurst (delicious) and a few beers (also delicious) before catching my train, and moved from the beer garden to inside when it started to rain. The hostess kindly found me a spot by the bar, and the landlord Benjamin was a very gracious host. Will be back when I’m next in Berlin

Weltwirtschaft am HKW in Berlin was the perfect spot to unwind. We stopped for a couple of beers and relaxed, taking in the beautiful surroundings right by the Spree River and next to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt. The atmosphere was peaceful, the beer was great, and it was a perfect break to just enjoy the view and the laid-back vibe. A hidden gem for sure if you’re looking for a relaxing stop in Berlin!

Weltwirtschaft am HKW is a vibrant cultural hotspot located within the Heizkraftwerk (HKW) in Berlin. This unique venue combines industrial charm with a dynamic program of events, including art exhibitions, concerts, and discussions focused on global economic and social issues. The space itself is impressive, retaining the raw, industrial architecture of the former power plant, which creates an inspiring atmosphere for creativity and dialogue. Visitors appreciate the thought-provoking exhibitions and the opportunity to engage with contemporary topics in an accessible way. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. While the location is somewhat off the typical tourist path, it’s well worth the visit for anyone interested in art, culture, and global affairs. Whether you’re attending a lecture or simply exploring the space, Weltwirtschaft am HKW offers a unique blend of history, culture, and education that leaves a lasting impression.

They didn't have many options on their menu in the shop, but the food was surprisingly good for this type of place. The portion was quite large, and we ended up ordering way too much.
We sat down by the river, and the atmosphere was really nice. The only issue was that there were quite a few people smoking in the outdoor area, so we had to keep changing our tables to stay away from them.

I had a pizza 🍕, a flat white, a rhubarb Schorle and paid 21,80€ (deposit excluded). Self service at the cafe.
Please pay your workers a good wage so they don’t have to ask for tips.

New and unbeatably delicious. Varied and creative cuisine! But not overly expensive. We'll be back🤗
