It’s easy to underestimate the place from the outside, but the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth, the attention to detail, and smell of quality food all around.
We had the dorada — which was excellent — and a plate of grilled meats, also great.
The owner was also very welcoming and attentive, shaking every guest’s hands, and truly making the experience feel like dining in your uncle’s home.

We visited Berlin for 3 nights in January (group of 4) and we went to this restaurant twice ! The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. I would highly recommended. The moussaka was divine and the atmosphere was brilliant! It was really busy on the two nights we attended. I would advise to book before going :)

Amazing food, great service and nice atmosphere.
The orange cake dessert is amazing.
And the skewers as well

From the amazing food to the super friendly staff, this Greek restaurant impressed us.
I haven't had such delicious food in a long time.
The staff was very friendly and funny. Our friend from the company spoke Greek and it was a lot of fun. Thanks for the great food and stay.
I would visit Berlin again just for this restaurant.

I had high expectations based on the great reviews, but my experience at Taverna Athene was disappointing.
Despite having a reservation, I received little attention and had to wait quite a while. The table offered was not great, and overall the service felt disorganized.
The dish I had was okay, but definitely not exceptional—nothing that would justify the wait or make the visit memorable.
Maybe it was just an off night, but I expected more from a place with such high ratings.

The best shisha in Berlin!! Such good atmosphere and exceptional service. We got a free shisha, snacks and we got to steer the music. The owner is the sweetest man in Berlin. We had such a great time, this will definitely be our go to shisha spot. Thanks a lot for this lovely time! 100% recommend

Great hookah/shisha lounge, super friendly staff. The gentlemen who helped us were very kind through a slight language barrier, and made sure we were comfortable. Two stories, but they brought out chairs and a table for us to sit outside. Had a very good experience here for a late night smoke sesh.

The restaurant is tastefully decorated with traditional fabrics, ceramics and tables.
The service was excellent and the staff were polite, attentive and made sure we felt welcomed and we had a good tome.
We ordered the Mixed Plate for two people and it was delicious. All of the dishes work perfectly together - the stronger Chicken and Beef and the complimenting milder lentils and vegetables.
Overall a very healthy cuisine with fermented bread and vegetables, legumes dishes, stunning cottage cheese and homemade meat stews.

I really like this Ethiopian restaurant as it is close to my house. For the first time I ordered a salad and was a bit disappointed as it was nothing special, could have been done better at home and for the price it is not worth it.
However, the main dish was super good. I took the mix plate with lamb curry and 3 vegetarian dishes. It was super good and really filling.

It's a true Ethiopian restaurant in Berlin! There's a good choice of different dishes, although the portions are not that big. Prices are although very low. The waiters were extraordinary nice and the location is so pretty!
Eleonora Tonino - a year ago
The portions are very generous and the food is tasty. No problems with the staff and they were very accommodating. Probably best to go with a friend or two to share meals together.
The location is also very good as it's close to U Hallesches Tor.

From outside you would hardly notice that this unflashy place actually offers the best Ethiopian food imaginable. Even a member of the Ethiopian royal family comes here when in town. Highly recommend is the plate to share and eat with your fingers only

Came here 3 times this week, and it was amazing every time.I had the pork and beef meatballs with the potatoes on the side which were amazing, and the other days I had the pork schnitzel which was honestly my favourite dish and was super super amazing. The schnitzel and potato really complemented eachother and were both amazing.5/5 stars

Less restaurant and more neighborhood beer hall with a limited menu. Even with a limited menu, food is very good. Schnitzel, meatballs, fried eggs and cold sandwiches. Schnitzel and meatballs (with potatoes and pickle) are very good. Staff is friendly and does a good job. Cash only!

We had a really good pork schnitzel with eggs and a nice cold beer. Staff is helpful and friendly and they speak English. I definitely recommend this place.

Very disappointing place, had high ratings but was pretty bad. The salad was absolutely awful. They’re definitely using old vegetables and when I asked why the lettuce was yellow and wrinkly, they said it’s meant to be that way 🤦♂️

I just stopped by for a quick lunch, but my experience here was still extremely satisfying and welcoming, in all regards. Felt like home.
The service was friendly, attentive and helpful and the dish was served promptly under 15 minutes from when I arrived.
As for the food, it was lovely. Pure perfection, far exceeding my expectations. The filled peppers were the best ones I ever had in my life - tender, buttery, well seasoned, full of flavor and authentic. The potatoes were a great vessel for the sauce and the salad on the side perfectly cut through the richness of the filled peppers.
If I had to have a complaint, it would be that it may be a bit pricey for a meal people usually cook at home. The peppers and a big bottle of water were 22.80 € altogether. However, the quality definitely justifies the price and I guess that this is normal for a lunch/dinner in Berlin in 2025.
Visiting this place made my whole day and I can‘t wait to come back and try other dishes.

We were very well treated by the staff, and served an amazing food! The portion sizes are good and the venue’s decoration is beautiful. Love also that they have authentic Croatian beverages.

We went here immediately after being in Croatia and the food was just like at home. Atmosphere is extremely professional and staff was attentive. Highly recommend!

Do not be fooled by its appearance. This is quality in disguise at its finest. Had a special grill teller mix which was very good. Meats, Herbs, Rice, Fries.. all there.
Very friendly people running this place. Would def recommend if you like some Balkan foods.
This place felt a bit like a time capsule. Vintage vibes, Balkan x Germany 40 years ago.
Good experience, service was a tad slow. but everything arrived when it arrived.
Would visit again

This place has such a pretty outdoor area, especially on a sunny day. The overall design is lovely, and it’s the kind of spot where you could easily spend hours relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. They even have a dedicated laptop area, though I was a bit disappointed to find out that laptops aren’t allowed on weekends when I came to work. My favourite dish here is the Caponata and Hummus, it looks beautiful and tastes even better!
Niusha Akbari - 3 months ago
A friend recommended this place, and I almost ordered everything on the menu, including the kitchen sink, because the food looked like it could win a beauty pageant. Unfortunately, it was more of a “looks can be deceiving” situation. The French toast was just bread with berries, lacking any sweetness—like a vanilla-less vanilla dream. I don’t usually go for super sweet stuff, but this was supposed to be a flavor explosion, not a flavor fizzle. On the bright side, the staff was friendly, and the library setting had some good vibes. I might give it another shot, but next time, I’ll order less and hope for a plot twist.
Nicholas G - 5 months ago
The bacon was cooked to perfection but I think the leaves in the toast had a very strong flavor for my liking, I would have liked it better without them. The waffle is ok, but too many sweet components and it’s too sweet to eat it all.

Hallesches Haus is one of my favorite places in Berlin. My colleagues and I go there for lunch quite often. Great food, amazing ambience. One small complaint I've about this place is a bit of mismanagement during lunch time. They're super busy. Therfore, they miss orders. The food is served very late too. But food is simply the best.
Asha Gopal - 5 months ago
We got a table without a reservation after a short 5-minute wait, which was great. The service was excellent – very friendly and attentive. We both ordered decaf iced lattes, which were delicious. We also had the Eggs Benedict – they were good, though not the best I’ve ever had. I personally didn’t love the black cabbage salad that came with the bread, but that’s just a matter of taste. The location is bright and open with lots of natural light, and the overall vibe is really nice. I’d definitely come back – if only for the incredibly kind and welcoming staff!

Daily changing organic dishes, varied yet classic. Filling, top-quality organic food, half portions available, and reasonably priced. Lovely terrace, and cozy interior.

The food was delicious. For a small price, you get pure, organic food. However, you're practically in the middle of the store, so it's not very inviting.

After a night of partying, I was super hungry, and like an oasis in the desert, this little Dönerei (does this word even exist?) appeared. Oh my god. The meat was delicious and PLENTIFUL in my Döner box. Actually I'm making myself hungry and I might go there again this evening.
Edit: I went again and got a delicious and huge dürüm!

The Kebap we ate in Döner Date is the best one we tried in Germany. Neşet Bey and other people who work there are very friendly.(sorry I forgot their names) they always smile and they are very kind. We are lucky to met them :) I will definetely comemhere again if I ever visit Berlin. actually I will just come Germany to visit Döner Date again. Thabk you for your warm welcome and for the best kebap.

The quality and the taste was really good. It wasn't too oily, the bread was delicious, meat and other ingredients were really good. I was very pleased. However, there is not much space to sit, so it's best for takeaway.

Oh my Gosh!!!!
Walking to find dinner and there was this incredible scent in the air and I followed it.
To be honest, I've never had a kebab in my life.
The guys that were working were very patient with me and made me this massive and most DELICIOUS thing I've eaten in a long time!
I don't know if all kebabs are like this but as far as I'm concerned, this one is AMAZING!

I ordered the süɓ sauer ente kross (sweet& sauer crispy duck) for takeaway. Quick service, good taste, good prize, well sized portion, alu meal box keeping the dish hot and no additional plate needed at home. Beats cooking yourself all day long!

Food was heavy, greasy, and sometimes you couldn’t understand what kind of vegetable you’re eating since it tasted so weird. Don’t recommend this place for people with more sensitive stomachs.
Kristina Kirkliauskaitė - 3 months ago
I stopped because I wanted a hot, solid meal.
Laby took my order, sat outside and she made everything FRESH.
I don't know about these negative comments but for the price, for the amount of food (plate full!), a solid hot meal....this hit the spot.
Thank goodness I stopped...it started raining like a monsoon!
I did pick up after myself and took the plate etc inside and thanked the lady. She was surprised.
Maybe make an effort and be kind people.
1 lady running the place.
Anyway, I'll be back to try something else because it was good, solid, hot, and fresh.

Good Asian Food, cheap but very tasty. Location is interesting and real Berlin. If the owners-wife serve or make the meal... she is a little bit rough, (mentally) but anyway you came for a good meal.
