Konzerthaus Berlin

The Konzerthaus is a magnificent concert hall situated between the French Cathedral and the German Cathedral at Gendarmenmarkt Square. It honours poet, philosopher and historian Friedrich Schiller, who's regarded as one of the most significant dramatists and lyricists of the German language.
The first hall on the site was built by Friedrich the Great as a theatre venue in the early 1800s
The theatre was subjected to major damage during the bombing of World War II. Rebuilding began in 1977 with the exterior faithfully replicating the original design. The inside was modified to meet the needs of its new role as a concert hall. It opened in 1984 with a gala concert performance by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to being a wonderful building for aficionados of architecture the Konzerthaus is considered to be one of the acoustically best venues for concerts and opera in the world.
Today, the Konzerthaus is home to the Konzerthausorchester symphony orchestra. Their performances range from chamber music to major symphonies and from early to comtemporary classical music. Each season they present a special theme.
A variety of tours are available ranging from free walk-throughs to family and group tours for a very small fee. More information is available on the Konzerthaus Berlin website.

Konzerthaus Berlin is absolutely stunning- both outside and inside. The building is a neoclassical masterpiece, beautifully located on Gendarmenmarkt square. The main concert hall is elegant, with excellent acoustics that make every performance feel magical.
I attended a symphonic concert here and was amazed by the sound quality and the atmosphere. The seating is comfortable, the staff is helpful, and the overall experience was very professional and inspiring.
Whether you’re a classical music lover or just visiting Berlin, this is a must-see cultural highlight. Highly recommended!

A beautiful building, that is currently undergoing works, so has scaffolding and netting. You can still appreciate the design of the building.
At the top of the steps are two statues, which are worth a look.
Sadly I did not have an opportunity to explore the insides of the building.
People who use a wheelchair can view the front of the building from the square. There is disabled access at the stage entrance.

Beautiful building and the philharmonic had an amazing performance. The guest pianist was so lively and lovely to watch, and the conductor had so much energy as well! I go to the symphony to listen to the orchestra, but to watch the conductor. It was a stellar show and I highly recommend.

A nice historic concert hall that has a constant rotation of classical music events.
It’s worth booking tickets in advance online, but beware that the box office closes between 18:00 and 19:00 so you can’t collect tickets in that hour even though it’s advertised as being open from midday.
Front row balcony tickets had pleasantly surprising leg room which was a nice bonus. It does get very warm in there when the doors are closed and the music starts.
